The Ancestor's Insta

Inspired by The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins and Yan Wong, this page shows the history of life on earth as a timeline of cards. At each card, we meet one of our ancestors and some of the 'cousins' who share the ancestor with us. If the cousins were tracing their own ancestry, their timelines would join ours at these 'rendezvous points'.

To make this page, I used Google Gemini as a research, taxonomy and coding assistant. All the images were generated using GPT-4o or DALL-E models.

I've tried to be as accurate as possible using information from the book, The Open Tree of Life and TimeTree, but this is a hobby, so please excuse any errors.
